Category A and Category B fit out in the View From The Shard’s ground floor entrance and reception area and the viewing galleries at the top of the tallest building in both the UK and EU. Install a blown-fibre backbone from three secondary equipment rooms located on the 1st, 50th and 70th floors down to a minimum point of entry room in the basement. Install 300(+) Category 6a data points and cabling in the public viewing galleries on the 70th, 71st and 72nd floors.

Upgrade an analogue CCTV system to a digital IP solution in a 190,000sqft office complex including the building’s perimeter. Carry out a live ‘hot swap’ of security cameras and install 200(+) Category 6 data points, backbone cabling to secondary equipment rooms and secondary containment.

Project
Manage and install the IT infrastructure throughout the college campus during a five-year rebuilding programme, including Category A and Category B fit outs in seven new buildings. The principal challenge was to keep the college IT network fully operational during the relocation of the main equipment room while each block was either renovated or built. The project was a major undertaking with an overall contract value worth around £40m to the main contractor, Wates Construction.

Phase 1 of a Category B fit out in a corporate technical support centre. The project required a new main equipment room to be built and around 1,200 Category 6 data points installed, along with a bespoke, fully-integrated, AV system incorporating projectors and screens in three conference rooms, two meeting rooms, a training room and the reception area.

Project
Category B fit-out in a new, 15-unit, high-end retail development. Installation of a Prysmian fibre solution and copper backbone. All units connected back to both intake rooms. The project had to be completed within a short ‘window of availability’ during the fit-out timetable to ensure the units could be handed over, occupied and opened as quickly as possible.

Category B fit out throughout a new, two-storey office complex involving the installation of over 500 Category 6a data points and cabling to a main equipment room. The project required greater care than normal as the cable ducts were beneath an expensive, Italian marble floor.

Carry out a live ‘hot swap’ of over 100 security cameras with multiple secondary equipment rooms, a single-mode fibre network, ‘pit work’ for perimeter cameras and accommodate multiple IT change freezes during the project. Provide an extensive fibre backbone along with Category 6 cabling and data points.

A Category B fit out in the UK headquarters of a US corporate organisation. The project involved redesigning the main equipment room and upgrading and extending the existing Category 6 structured cabling system to bring it in line with the company’s global telecommunications standards. The offices complex occupied five floors, each floor presented a unique design challenge to meet the agreed specification.

This project was for a subsidiary of a long-standing client and, as with previous projects for the client, we worked closely with their IT team in Boston, Massachusetts, to ensure the design fully met their requirements.
