Install a blown-fibre backbone from three secondary equipment rooms located on the 1st, 50th and 70th floors down to a minimum point of entry room in the basement. Install 300(+) Category 6a data points and cabling in the public viewing galleries on the 70th, 71st and 72nd floors.

Manage and install the IT infrastructure throughout the college campus during a five-year rebuilding programme, including Category A and Category B fit outs in seven new buildings. The principal challenge was to keep the college IT network fully operational during the relocation of the main equipment room while each block was either renovated or built. The project was a major undertaking with an overall contract value worth around £40m to the main contractor, Wates Construction.

The project required a new main equipment room to be built and around 1,200 Category 6 data points installed, along with a bespoke, fully-integrated, AV system incorporating projectors and screens in three conference rooms, two meeting rooms, a training room and the reception area.

The project had to be completed within a short ‘window of availability’ during the fit-out timetable to ensure the units could be handed over, occupied and opened as quickly as possible.
